Expiration Mail Letter

You are receiving this email because you have one or more rule books that will expire on January 31, 2019.

What does this mean? Once rule books expire, they are no longer kept current with new amendments. Also, because outdated books are not stored on our servers, they will not have the following functionality after their expiration: (1) personal annotations (highlighting, notes, and bookmarks) will no longer sync to other devices; (2) the book will not be able to be downloaded on a new device; and (3) the book will not be able to be viewed on our website.

How do I keep my books current? When a rule book shows as expired on your mobile device you can go to the book information page (by left swiping on the book’s title on your home screen) and click the subscription button. This will purchase a subscription for the rule book that will renew automatically each year. For other options visit our website, www.rulebookapp.com, where you will be able to log in using your Rulebook credentials. Expect this to happen on January 31, 2019 for rules purchased before January 31, 2017.

Why the change? Rulebook’s policy has always been that a book purchase entitles customers to updates for only one year. However, we did not enforce this policy until this year. Enforcing this policy now will allow Rulebook to continue to keep all the books you purchase current — a very time-consuming and expensive endeavor.

A note regarding copyrighted books: Copyrighted books that are published by edition, such as The Bluebook®, are not sold as a subscription. You will continue to receive updates for these books as errata and mid-edition printings are released until a new edition of this book is published.

We hope you are enjoying the Rulebook app. Casemaker’s recent acquisition of Rulebook has allowed us to expand our library of offerings from dozens of rule books in a few select jurisdictions to hundreds of rule books in every jurisdiction in the country. We are also very excited about the improvements we have made to the app, as well as the additional improvements that are in the works. Thank you for being a Rulebook customer. We hope 2019 brings you great success in your practice.
